The Tornado Luxembourg team has experienced a whirlwind start to the 2024-2025 hockey season, with a mix of victories, defeats, and lessons learned from tough competition. Here's a recap of their latest matches.

Tornado Luxembourg 5-1 EHC Zweibrücken – Saturday, September 21
The season opener at home was a perfect start for the Tornado. In a thrilling game against EHC Zweibrücken, the team secured a convincing 5-1 victory. It was a highly enjoyable match for fans and players alike, as the Tornado showcased solid teamwork and strong performances across the board. This win provided a confidence boost to the team as they look ahead to a challenging season.

Neuwied 8-0 Tornado Luxembourg – Sunday, September 22
The day after their victory, Tornado Luxembourg faced a tough away game against Neuwied, one of the stronger teams in the league. Despite putting up a valiant fight for the first 30 minutes, the strength and depth of Neuwied eventually proved too much for the Tornado, who suffered an 8-0 defeat. Neuwied is playing in CEHL (formerly BeNe League). Although the scoreline was heavy, the team showed resilience against a superior opponent, which will serve as valuable experience for future matches.

Tornado Luxembourg 1-7 Renards de Roanne (Coupe de France) – Saturday, September 28  
In their first-ever participation in the Coupe de France, Tornado Luxembourg faced the Renards de Roanne, a French D2 team, at home in Kockelscheuer. Tornado started strong, with a well-fought first period that showed promise. However, a five-minute lapse in concentration during the second period allowed Roanne to score five quick goals, effectively sealing the match. Despite this, the third period was more competitive, and Jesse Miquel stood out with a commendable performance. Tornado’s cup run came to an end with a 7-1 heavy defeat, but it was a valuable learning experience for the team.

EHC Zweibrücken 6-5 Tornado Luxembourg (Friendly) – Sunday, September 29 
The following day, Tornado traveled to Zweibrücken for their final pre-season friendly. The match was another tightly contested affair, much like the one a week earlier. Both teams played attractive hockey, providing an entertaining spectacle for the fans. Tornado fought hard, but the game ended in a narrow shootout loss. However, the result was less important than the quality of play, which showed great promise as the team prepares for the season ahead.

Looking Ahead
Tornado Luxembourg will now shift their focus to the French Division 2 championship, with an exciting away fixture against Rouen on Saturday, October 5. The team will be eager to build on their early performances and start their league campaign with a strong showing.
